DRCSS Grad 2024 Information

Graduation Ceremony date and time: Saturday, June 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the DRCSS gym.

 

Before Grad

  •       Graduate Information – each grad must complete the following form https://forms.office.com/r/27uefGJEDA before Thursday, June 20.  If you have any questions, email Mrs. Graham at [email protected].
  •       Awards/Recognition - Any students receiving awards or recognitions from outside of the DRCSS can forward this information to [email protected] before Thursday June 20 so that it can be included in the student’s convocation information.
  •  Please come to the main office on Thursday, June 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to do the following:
    •      Confirm your attendance at grad, check your name pronunciation/plans for after grad (announced at grad), return overdue books/uniforms, and pay any outstanding fees.
    •      Pick up your grad gown in the Guidance office.
    •      Pick up your Safe Grad parade info/vehicle sign.
    •      Complete grad walkthrough – Ms. Foley will be available to take grads on a walkthrough of the process for grad so that they know what to expect on graduation day.
  •      Any special seating requests can be made to the office until Thursday, June 20 at noon.
  •      If you know that you are NOT attending the convocation, please let the main office AND Guidance know ASAP.

Ceremony

  •       Grads arrive at the DRCSS by 11:30 a.m. and go to the MPR.
  •       Staff members to check and make sure your cap and gown and being worn correctly.
  •       You will take a group grad photo.
  •       You will be lined up in alphabetical order – stay in this order as you make your way to the gym and sit down. This is the same order that your names will be announced during convocation.
  •       Gym doors will open for spectators at 11:30 a.m. Convocation will begin at 1:00 sharp.
  •       Valedictorian – This year's potential grads voted Madisson Garton as their Valedictorian! Congratulations Madisson!

Presentation of Scrolls

  •       When your name is called, walk onto the stage and stop in front of the podium. Stand on this X while your after-grad plans are read out loud.
  •      Then, walk to Mr. Schmidt to be presented with a scroll (this is not your diploma – the diploma will be in your grad package) and stand with Mr. Schmidt until he tells you it’s time to exit the stage.
  •      Do not leave the stage until the MC has finished talking about you (announcing your plans for after grad, scholarships/awards, etc.)
  •      Please drop your scroll in the “Scrolls” container at the bottom of the stairs.
  •      At the bottom of the stairs, Mr. Todoruk will direct you where to go:
    •      If you received an award, go to the photo area.
    •      If you did not receive an award, return to the grad seating area following the directions of the ushers.

Award Recipients

  •      After your time on the stage, you will make your way to the photo area.
    •      Please greet any sponsors of your awards and chat with them briefly- make sure to thank them for their sponsorship.
  •      Take photos with all presenters (photographers will have a list).

After the Ceremony

  •      You are welcome to take photos with friends/family in your cap and gown.
  •      Please return your gown, stole, and plastic bag to Mrs. Robinson in the MPR before 3:30 p.m.

After Grad – Monday June 24

  •      Students receiving awards are to come to the DRCSS main office to write thank-you notes to sponsors and pick up their cheques on Monday June 24 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Photos – Wednesday June 26

  •      DRCSS photos (grads receiving diploma and with award sponsors) will be available on the DRCSS website by Sunday, June 30
