Beginning in February 2022, DRCSS students and families will notice on PowerSchool that final percentage grades will not be posted for semester 2 courses. Individual assessment grades, assignments names and due dates, and student attendance will still be visible on the PowerSchool app or the PowerSchool website. Please consult the updated Student Handbook, available on the DRCSS website.

Mountain View School Division will lower its flags to half-mast on Thursday, April 28, 2022 to mark the Day of Mourning, which is dedicated to remember and honour those who lost their lives or were injured in the workplace.

The Hon. Wayne Ewasko, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning, has proclaimed the week of April 18-22, 2022 as Education Week in recognition of the value of K-12 education and its supportive role in fostering a mindset of lifelong learning. Please click on the above link for more info!

The third Wednesday in April is known throughout Manitoba as "School Bus Driver Day." On behalf of Senior Administration and the Board of Trustees, we would like to thank our bus drivers for getting our students to and from school safely!

As a high school student, have you ever thought about working in the trades? Did you know you can start to study to be a tradesperson while in high school? Yes, you can! You can start your "hours" for your first year of college while in high school and can earn up to 8 credits towards your High School Diploma through the High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP). Due to the conditions of continued snowfall and blowing snow in much of the Division, and Environment Canada’s ongoing blizzard warning for the Parkland, all MVSD schools and division facilities will be closed on Thursday, April 14. Staff may work from home.

Due to Environment Canada’s warning of a major spring storm poised to hit our region beginning overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning and lasting until Friday morning, all MVSD schools and division facilities will be closed on Wednesday, April 13.  Widespread snowfall accumulations of 30-50 cm accompanied by northerly winds gusting from 60-70 km/h resulting in zero visibility at times is being forecasted.  Staff may work from home. We are making this announcement prior to the storm due to the severity of the forecast and so that parents can plan in advance.  We will assess the situation as the storm progresses prior to making a decision on school closures and/or bus cancellations for Thursday, April 14.

The DRCSS will be suspending all Final Assessments for Semester 1 and Semester 2 for the 2021-22 school year. This decision is in response to the uncertainties that Covid may have on our students and staff. We want to alleviate added anxiety on the part of both students and teachers. Our goal is to allow teachers to adapt classroom practices as the public health situation warrants. Lastly, we want to allow our teachers to be able to better respond to mental health and well-being concerns of students without any added pressures of a final assessment.
Final grades will be calculated at 100% of regular course work. There will not be a “final assessment week” in either semester. Students will attend until the last day of classes for each semester to learn and be assessed. February 3rd is the last day of classes for semester 1.
